Northwest Christian University

Eugene, Oregon
Web site: www.northwestchristian.edu

Northwest Christian University was founded in 1895 by pastor-educator, Eugene C. Sanderson, and named Eugene Divinity School. Through a series of name changes and a merger, the university became known as Northwest Christian College in 1934. In 2008 the college became Northwest Christian University. NCU is a Christian liberal arts university dedicated to the preparation of undergraduates while also providing opportunities for graduate education in several areas of study. Students at NCU discover a well-designed curriculum, superb faculty and staff dedicated to students' success, and numerous opportunities for learning outside the classroom. At Northwest Christian University, faculty and staff care not only about a student's intellectual development but about his or her personal development as well. It is a place where character development, faith development, and values matter. And it is a learning environment from which students leave well-prepared for productive and satisfying careers and lives of Christian service, civic engagement, and ethical leadership.

Northwest Christian University has a deep heritage developed with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, but we seek to develop a diverse campus community that welcomes students from a wide variety of church backgrounds. Many of our students come from Christian backgrounds and groups such as Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Foursquare, Lutheran, Nazarene, Episcopal, Assembly of God, Catholic, and Community Churches.
