Higher Education & Leadership Ministries Announces Relocation to Indianapolis
Move Allows for Increased Collaboration and Greater Financial Equilibrium
ST. LOUIS – Higher Education & Leadership Ministries (HELM), St. Louis, a General Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has announced its plans to relocate to Indianapolis. HELM’s new office will be in the Disciples Center, home to the denomination’s Office of the General Minister & President, multiple General Ministries, and other denominational offices.
HELM focuses on developing and nurturing Christian leaders who are transforming church, society and world.
“This was not an easy decision for the board to make, given our connections to St. Louis, “ said Board President Tom Wood, “but from both a stewardship and mission standpoint, the board believes it is the right direction for our ministry.” HELM has been located in St. Louis since 1972. Prior to that HELM, as the Board of Education, was based in Indianapolis.
The move is the result of an evaluation by HELM’s executive leadership and board of directors regarding the facility needs of the organization in light of its mission priorities and program offerings. Relocating to Indianapolis will allow increased collaboration between HELM and wider church partners, while reducing overhead facilities and staffing costs.
“We give God thanks for all HELM has accomplished in its past and we look forward to the ministry yet to be done,” added the Rev. Chris Dorsey, HELM’s President. “As we go through a transitional period, we are doing everything possible to fulfill the mission and sustain our witness well into the future.”
HELM’s operations will be based in Indianapolis as of Aug. 1. For more details about HELM and its ministry please visit www.helmdisciples.org.
